Availability targets

Service level

This is how well the service is meant to work each month. The figures are targets, not promises backed by compensation.

  • Customer websites

    99.9%

When a visitor opens your website.

At most about 43 min of downtime a month

  • Admin

    99.5%

    Signing in and admin.houstie.fi.

At most about 3.6 hours of downtime a month

  • Editing by chat

    99%

    Changes by writing.

At most about 7.2 hours of downtime a month

Your website stays up even if the admin or the chat is briefly unavailable: a published website does not need them to work.

What the targets rest on

The service is built from Amazon Web Services (AWS) services, and each of them has its own service level commitment.

Service What we use it for AWS’s own service level commitment
Amazon CloudFront (opens in a new tab) Delivering the pages to visitors 99.9%
Amazon S3 (opens in a new tab) The site files and images 99.9%
AWS WAF (opens in a new tab) Firewall 99.95%
Amazon API Gateway (opens in a new tab) The admin’s interface 99.95%
AWS Lambda (opens in a new tab) Admin and editing functions 99.95%
Amazon DynamoDB (opens in a new tab) Database 99.99%
Amazon Cognito (opens in a new tab) Signing in 99.9%
Amazon SES (opens in a new tab) Sign-in codes and notifications by e-mail 99.9%
Amazon Bedrock (opens in a new tab) Language models for editing by chat 99.9%

When a request passes through several services, an outage in any of them shows to you. That is why the target for the whole is lower than the commitment for a single service.

Monthly commitments from the AWS service level agreements, read 9 October 2026. Each service name links to its agreement.

What the targets do not cover

  • Maintenance announced in advance
  • A domain or name server outside Houstie, for example a registrar outage or a domain that was not renewed
  • Third-party services such as Google Analytics, maps and booking tools
  • Country restrictions and the firewall’s intentional blocks
  • Congestion in the language model service that slows editing by chat (your website still works)
  • Force majeure

What we do

Backups
The data and the site files are backed up automatically.
Versions
Every publish is saved as its own version, and you can go back to an earlier one.
Alarms
Automatic alarms tell us about errors, attack attempts and unusual traffic.

Report a problem

If your website or the admin is not working, send a support request from the admin or write to hello@houstie.fi. Tell us what is not working and when you noticed it.

The service level is a target. The terms do not promise compensation for outages. Terms
