We build the site. You keep it current by writing.
Here’s the whole path: what happens after you order, how updating works and why nothing goes live by accident.
From order to launch
Five steps. All we need from you is the order and the approval.
- about 5 minutes
Order
You pick a plan and give us the basics, your domain and what you do. No card needed.
- 1–3 working days
Draft
Houstie’s team puts together the first version from what you told us, your current site and public registers, and sends you a preview link. For a large site, the schedule is agreed in the quote.
- at your own pace
Preview and changes
You get a preview link and a login to the admin. Ask for changes by writing until the site is how you want it.
- usually the same day
Approval and launch
Once you approve, we connect your domain and the site is live. The monthly fee and the website build are billed only now.
- any time
Invite the others
Invite colleagues or board members and give them a role. E-mail is all it takes to sign in – no passwords.
Already have a website?
- We take the texts, opening hours and contact details from your current site, so you don’t have to rewrite them.
- Your current site stays up the whole time, and the new version is shown at a preview address.
- Your domain switches to the new site only after you approve it.
No site yet? A few sentences about what you do is enough. We’ll turn them into a first version and refine it together.
How updating works
You sign in at admin.houstie.fi and write what needs to change – in your own words, as you would to a colleague.
-
You write
“Add the autumn meeting to events.” You can attach an image too.
-
Check
The change is checked against your site’s rules, and the layout stays as it is.
-
Preview
You see the page exactly as it will go live, and in the chat a list of what changed.
-
Approve or schedule
Publish now or pick a time, say Monday at 8:00.
-
Publish
The change is live, usually within a few minutes.
-
Version saved
Every publish is saved. One click brings back the previous version.
You: Add the autumn meeting on 12 November at 18:00 at the clubhouse, and say the agenda comes out a week before.
Houstie: Done – take a look at the preview. I added the meeting to the Events page and to the events list on the front page.
You: Shorten the front-page text – day, time and place are enough.
Houstie: Shortened – take a look at the preview.
Schedule publishing: 3 Nov at 8:00
Houstie: Scheduled. The change goes live on 3 November at 8:00.
What can you change by writing?
In Lite you update the page’s texts, images and contact details – prices and opening hours too. In Basic and Business you can also write blog and news posts and add events and other pages, in the sections your site was built with for them. What you can change yourself is agreed when we build the site. Design changes and entirely new pages and sections are done by us as support work.
Lite includes 2 publishes a month; Basic and Business are unlimited. One publish can hold many changes.
Nothing goes live by accident
-
Always a preview first
Every change is shown as a preview before it goes live.
-
Nothing goes live without approval
Only what one of you has approved goes on the site.
-
Versions and undo
Every publish is saved as a version. If something went wrong, one click brings the previous one back.
-
Roles
The owner manages users and billing. Publishers approve and publish. Editors suggest changes but don’t publish.
-
No passwords
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your e-mail. When someone leaves, you remove their access – no shared logins to change.
Languages stay in step
You write in your main language. The other versions are translated automatically, and when the main text changes, the translation follows. If you polish a translation yourself, it’s locked and the automatic translation leaves it alone. The review view shows which texts were translated automatically and which have been checked.
Lite has 1 language, Basic 2 and Business 3. The languages are Finnish, Swedish and English. An extra language is €15 / month on Lite and Basic; Business includes all three.
Forms
Enquiries, booking requests, membership applications or sign-ups – the forms are built into your site, and you can change them by writing. Submissions are saved in the admin and sent to your e-mail, and you can reply to the sender directly. Spam protection is included, submissions can be exported as a spreadsheet, and they’re deleted after the retention period you choose. Every submission is validated on our server.
Forms: Lite 1, Basic 3, Business 10.
Analytics and privacy
Lite has cookie-free daily visitor stats: you see which pages are read and where visitors come from, with no banner needed. Basic and Business let you turn on more detailed visitor stats – visitors right now, visits and how long they last, entry and exit pages, campaigns and times of day – which adds a cookie banner to the site. If you want, you can also add Google Analytics or your own tracking code. The privacy policy is generated automatically and updates when your settings change.
Your data is stored in the EU. A firewall protects the site, and pages load fast on phones too.
Our support team helps you
You send support requests from the admin. Our support team usually replies the same working day. If something can’t be done by writing – an entirely new page or section, structure or something technical – we do it as support work. Business includes 60 minutes of support work every month. On other plans it costs €20 per started 15 minutes, and we give you an estimate first.
